New DVD Shows Dangers of Smoking

A DVD released in British Columbia covers the various dangers of smoking while pregnant:

"A new tobacco-awareness resource will soon be available throughout British Columbia thanks to the support and involvement of the Tsow-tun Le Lum Society and its substance abuse treatment centre in Lantzville.

A 15-minute DVD, funded by Health Canada, features Aboriginal women talking frankly about their personal and family experiences misusing tobacco during pregnancy, and the negative impact smoking can have on newborns, infants and young children.

The DVD – Now You Have to Quit – was produced by Alcohol-Drug Education Service, which for 58 years has been helping keep children drug free.

Tsow-tun Le Lum is an accredited, residential substance-abuse program overlooking Nanoose Bay on land leased from the Nanoose First Nation.

More than a dozen of its residents and staff volunteered to share their personal stories, thoughts, and innermost feelings on camera in an effort to help make others more aware of the dangers of smoking while pregnant."
