i only use cocaine 3-4 times a year. however, when i do use it, i can't stop myself from doing more and more and more. am i an addict?

From what you say here, I don't think you're an addict. It sounds like you use coke recreationally, a term I believe in. The fact that you get nuts when you DO do coke doesn't in my opinion mean a whole lot, because that basically defines coke use. And it's one reason why I, like most, had a love/hate relationship with coke-- coke makes you do it and do it and do it because the high is so high and the comedown is so ugly.

All that said, if I were you i'd be careful, because anyone can develop an addiction, and you certainly make it easier to happen if you use drugs recreationally.
