Tips to Kick Caffeine Addiction
If you are one of the millions of people who can't get going without that morning cup of coffee, and that afternoon can of soda, and that evening espresso, you might want to think about kicking that caffeine addiction.
Easier said than done, to be sure. But a report in The Times of India has some helpful hints to help you quit caffeine safely and effectively.
Switch to Decaf
Well, obviously. There are decaffeinated coffees, teas and soft drinks that you can drink and not feel left out.
Herbal Teas Instead of Coffee
Herbal teas still have caffeine in them, but much less than coffee. If you gradually reduce your caffeine intake, you will avoid all of those unpleasant withdrawal symptoms that come with quitting cold turkey.
The Times of India writes:
One of the best and most effective ways to limit our addiction to caffeine products is by adopting a healthy lifestyle. This involves a balanced combination of exercise, sleep and proper hydration. A regular 30-35 minutes of moderate exercise 5-6 times per week is sufficient to divert your mind and remain fit. This can be supplemented by 6-7 hours of daily sleep and frequent hydration with either plain water or other water substitutes like milk and orange juice.
A healthy diet of fruits and vegetables will help you cut back on caffeine. Vegetables, grains, nuts and fresh fruits are low in glycemic levels, which steadies your blood sugar, thereby curbing cravings. Vitamins C and B Complex support your adrenal system, which reduces caffeine cravings.
