Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) involves methods of delivering nicotine into the body at a controlled rate in an effort to lessen the cravings and withdrawal symptoms, without the tars, toxins, and cancer-causing substances found in tobacco products. With a view towards avoiding a nicotine overdose, NRTs typically require the patient to cease the use of all nicotine products.
