Serotonin: Mood Changer

Serotonin a neurotransmitter located in the central nervous system is associated with various moods (anger, sadness, etc.). Often times those with an antidepressant addiction find themselves with a lack of "serotonin uptake." This situation usually begins with the antidepressants themselves as they are known to inhibit "serotonin uptake."

Addiction recovery when dealing with antidepressants is usually strenuous in both a physical and emotional way, because those that have become addicted are usually dependent on antidepressants to help them cope. This is ironic since the serotonin that had been able to give them the ability to function was impaired and blocked from undertaking its prime task.
