Spirituality and Addiction Recovery
It seems to me that one of the most effective methods in addiction recovery is through spiritual means. What are people's thoughts?

I really believe that spirituality fills a void that exists in many addicts.
I used to be really skeptical of allowing myself to become a "spiritual being" but I think that is what kept me an active addict for so long. When I started discovering the inner me. I began to feel less inclined to use addictive substances. My need and desire waned and my addiction "retreated."
OK let me explain. I used to think all of this was hogwash, but really if you think about it our capacity to improve is really determined by our ability to give ourselves to something higher than our own desires.
Greg,
Do you attend 12 Step groups? I started with them, but now I have really found meditation to help connect and focus me.
I appreciate what you said Greg, Thanks
My submission to God was how I stopped. It is my continued reliance on Him and not myself that has given me the strength to move forward.
God is real, regardless of what we think.
