Step 1

Hi all

I just starting to re-do my step work. I was at Step 5 before, now I am back at Step 1. It's so funny as soon as I get some clean time behind me, how quickly I tend to forget the bad times
The times I lost a job, the times I sat in jail, the times I lived on the streets, the times I stole for a living, the times I tried to commit suicide- but could not even do that right.
Now re-doing Step1 I actually see how Powerless I am against this disease and within a couple of weeks my life became totally unmanageable.
All is not lost, I get to learn more especially the part on acceptance. If anyone is doing step work can they please let me know- maybe we can share our thoughts on certain issues.
Thanks
Ricky

Step 1

hi there. i am brand new to recovery and haven't started the first step other than to read it and fully understand what is expected. how did u get started? how did you begin?

Step 1

Hi ThereI got the step working guide from NA. It is a work book which includes all the steps and questions. But please do not work these steps by your self it is very important to get a sponsor. In my case I finish a step and give it to my sponsor. My sponsor reads it and tells me if he thinks I got what I needed to out of the step.I am on step 3 now. It was difficult in the beginning by making time for this steps, but I know if I don't do this I wil relapse again. You will see how amazing these steps are, it actually shows me that drugs is not the problem, but the problem lies by me.
It shows me the realities of my self: How self-centered I am, How selfish I am, How insane my behaviour had become.
It also gave me hope, It shows me that change is possible.
I hope this is enough info on getting started, if not tell me and I will see if I can get you a guide.
Thanks for asking me for info- it feels great being at service to my fellow addict.
