I have just recently admitted to having anorexia and am currently in recovery, i am being treated on an outpatient basis because i still want to take my GCSE's that start in a weeks time.
I am really struggling with eating more and am determined not to put weight on even though my hair is falling out and my periods have stopped i still want to lose weight as i still think i am fat.
Anyway recently i suspect one of my best friends has developed anorexia as she is displaying all the symptoms i displayed while i was in the midst of the illness.
I am not certain, but i am really struggling with this as it is making me angry and jealous because she is losing weight whereas i am being made to put it on. It is making me feel really guilty as well because she is one of my friends.
Any advice on how i can deal with this is appreciated |

hello
i am recovering from annorexia as well and o man has it been one of a journey. It is also very interesting because my cousin whom I aam best friends with developed bulimia just recently. At first i envied her because as I have gained a lot ofw eight she was losing it and so stuck in the whole disease. I had to realize though that being jealous is very understandabe though because an eating disorder is somewhere to escape and not think about other things in life other than the food game. I think the man reason I was so jealous is tat I was hurt because I felt she was becoming absent minded when talking to me and we were losing eachother. I then saw myself focusing on the food game more and realized I dd not want her to go through this emotional devastating journey. so i wanted to help her and talk to her and we realized that we could help eachother. |

Hello Blondie91,
First of all, let me say: congrats on starting to recover from anorexia.
How long have you been suffering with it?
Your friend, does she admit, or know, she's developing anorexic tendencies? I think you could be a very big help to her in the future.
As for you're situation with her, thejourneyofme makes a great point. Try to remember that, you putting on weight is a great thing, for your health and your looks; if you were loosing hair and having abnormal periods, you where much to thin... as I can assume people have explained before. So remember, you are going something good for your wellbeing, and you health, and if you friend doesn't come out of this on her own, you'll be a great help to her.
Wright back! Let me know how things are going with your recovery. |
