| I have been a heavy coke user for the past 2 years and I finally, with the help of my family, have gotten help. I have been clean for 7 days now....which is a miracle if you even know where I've been. I still have the cravings but am working through it by the support I am receiving at NA. One thing I am fighting with is that I am so exhausted every day. I know that I have put myself through a lot and it makes sense. I decided to take time off work as well to get a lot of rest. I dont want to put any other chemicals in my body that will give me a lift or energy. is there a certain diet that will help? any other thoughts or experiences? I am also going to go see a doctor as well. |

The first days and weeks are often the most difficult. I think it is great that you have taken some time and are getting rest. That is really important. Do not take anything else that will serve as an "upper" to give you energy.
One important thing to focus on is good diet. Good nutrition is key as well during recovery. This is the advice I have received from nutritionists as well as doctors.
Have protein in the morning and for lunch. Protein is key for sustained focus and energy. This can include eggs, chicken, fish. Have carbs for dinner but only healthy carbs. Your body will process health carbs slower so you energy increases and decreases at a slower rate. You don't get a large sugar rush and then crash. You want to avoid that.
Good carbs include:
Broccoli
Cauliflowers
Brown Rice
Barley
Peas
Soy
Green Beans
Apples
Anything that is known to have a low glycemic index.
I hope this helps. |

wow.....thanks for all of the info. totally appreciated.
I am getting rest and feeling better. I know I need to improve my diet. Just tough after you've either not been eating at all or when you do eat you eat like crap.

There is also a pretty good resource site that helps with diet and sustaining good blood sugar levels which is important for health and recovery.
