I have been a coffee drinker for years and I have noticed recently that I will get headaches when I do not have caffeine, but also when I do have caffeine as well. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hmmm. Can't say I have. I had stints where I needed caffeine all the time and when I didn't have it I was miserable. Not sure why that feeling would be there during intake. Sorry.

About a year ago, I drank Coke to stay awake (over the road truck driver). My headaches got to the point where I would have 4 or more a day. I would wake up from a nap with an immediate headache that wouldn't quit. Eventually I stopped drinking Coke and the headaches stopped.
Recently I started drinking energy drinks like Red Bull and Rockstar. Huge mistake. Loaded with caffeine. The headaches started again. Same spot, above the left eye. Gets worse to the point where the left cheek feels like I've been sucker punched.
I've stopped cold turkey from the drinks. Now I am waiting out my body to stop processing the caffeine and finally flush it out. Evidently I am at a point in my life where I can't have anything with caffeine.
The pinching of the hand between the thumb and forefinger does stop the headaches if I catch it in time. Right now I am drinking loads of water, hoping to flush the system. Maybe in another week or so I will be headache free again. |

People often overlook the effect caffeine has on us but it can hurt just as much as alcohol or other substances.

WHICH ONE DO YOU PREFER? I'VE DONE BOTH, BUT I TEND TO DO REAL GOOD IN REDUCING THE AMOUNT OF CAFFEINE FOR ABOUT A WEEK UNTIL CERTAIN SITUATIONS THAT CAUSE ME TO SHOW SIGNS OF STRESS MAKE ME GO BACK TO MY USUAL HABITS. WHAT ARE SOME OF THE EFFECTS YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH QUITTING COLD TURKEY?
