Computer and video game addiction: An alternate world

Technology has brought us computers to make our lives easier. It also enabled us to get some accessible personal entertainment right in our own home. One such entertainment is playing video games. This entertainment has sadly turned into an addicting activity for some people – children and adults alike. These people find themselves playing for hours that they cut class, do not report for work, and even neglect their family and friends. A game addict will even choose playing over sleeping.

Computer and video games make them feel good that they prefer the virtual world offered by the games than live in the real world with their family. It is because the world inside a game is something they can control as much as they want to. Because of the long hours of playing, a young addict may fail his classes, lock himself up in his room to play and lie about his playing. Adults may also choose this make-believe world and shut people out of their life.
