The Problem with Byron Bell

Tiger Woods is an idiot. I know, I know…that’s not nice – especially if he has a sex addiction, as some experts are claiming. I don’t know. Whether his infidelity is a result of his arrogance and sense of entitlement or an addiction, he’s certainly paying a high price for his indiscretion and he’s not done yet. The names of lost endorsements continue to add up.

My blog for today is about his best friend, Byron Bell, who also happens to be Tiger’s employee/right hand man. In other words, when Tiger wants to hook up, Byron makes the arrangements. Class act.

Byron’s wedding was this weekend, and Tiger was set to be the best man. Tiger was uninvited, but what I wanted to hear was the convo between Byron and his bride to be. Just how do you justify helping your best bud throw his career and family down the toilet? And just how sacred are his own wedding vows going to be?

In terms of addiction language, Byron is a perfect enabler. Enabling refers to the process by which someone "enables" an addicted person to continue in their addiction. Usually we talk about parents or partners enabling their loved ones by refusing to set boundaries. With a best friend like Byron, who needs enemies?
