How to Solve My Addiction to Pornography

Pornography is a very sensitive subject since it is an unmentionable topic to the general community. So if you are addicted to watching porn, overcoming it would not be as easy as prevailing over socially accepted addictions such as addiction to drugs, alcohol and gambling. Complicated as it may be, there are two basic solutions that can be used. However, these solutions have its share of advantages and disadvantages.

Help Yourself

Every addiction starts with your own decision, therefore it would be logical to say that you can end it since you were the one who started it. Understand pornography and study why you were addicted to it. Find open-minded friends and share your problem. Get their opinion and ask for some advice. Finally, assess the whole situation and do what is needed to be done. Effort and determination are needed in order to be successful in defeating your addiction. All in all, you do not need to announce that you are a pornography addict, all you need is to realize the problem, understand it, get advice, apply the solution and eventually take charge and conquer the problem.

Therapy: The traditional approach

Therapy is a good solution since it can give you an outlet for your personal emotions, outlook and feelings regarding their addiction to pornography. Usually, therapy is offered by professionals. This gives you a feeling that whatever they say may most probably be true and credible, thus making you submissive to their resolutions and advice. Convenient as it may seem, the downside to this approach is the price that you have to pay in order to avail of their services. Most therapists charge a very pricey fee and require you to undergo a long term process.
