Fetish sexual addiction

When one mentions the word “fetish,” a person immediately relates it to weird sexual desires. It is a sexual attraction to things that so not ordinarily arouse sexual thoughts within an individual.

Almost all people have fetishes. For example, men are easily aroused by the sight of lingerie being worn by a woman. There are also very uncommon and weird fetishes and paraphilia, such as bestiality (sexual attraction to animals) and necrophilia (sexual attraction to corpses). Though the latter fetishes may seem abnormal, it is only when these fetishes occur for a period of more than six months and disrupt a person’s normal lifestyle that they are diagnosed as psychological illnesses. They are also considered to be sexual addictions, since they have the same manifestations as those seen in different kinds of addictions.

Like any other type of addiction, sexual addiction must be managed and treated accordingly. In other words, it can be overcome through rehabilitation.
