Marijuana is the most frequently exploited illicit drug in any countries. Illicit because it is addictive and has been banned or regulated in most countries.

Marijuana addiction is the craving or urge for marijuana beyond voluntary control. It is also known as "pot" and "grass" but the scientific name is Cannabis sativa.

One can smoke marijuana like a cigarette or mixed it in food. Some people even brew it as a tea.

Long-term marijuana abuse will lead to addiction. The person addicted to marijuana will try to use it anywhere he is and anytime he wants to. Users will only show interest in the people using them too. They tend to shy away from friends and relatives and stop studying or stops engaging in any social activities.

The effects of marijuana addiction can include problems with memory and learning. It may also result in distorted perception, difficulty in thinking and problem solving. Loss of coordination is another effect of marijuana. Increased heart rate is also noted in all marijuana addicts. In short, one can die of heart attack and become dumb too because of marijuana.

Studies have shown that depression, anxiety, and personality disturbances are among the reasons why these people turn to marijuana.
