Modern Lifestyle is Fueling a Rush to Nowhere

Modern times are demanding people to rush around, overwork themselves, overeating and drinking, gambling, and snorting. These demands in one's time, physical and emotional abilities, and financial capabilities have painted a people which are not content. People who are not at peace. People who are disconnected. They struggle through life with very high expectations that they forget to slow down and be reacquainted with peace and quiet. People hurry through life and forget to marvel at the wonders of life. He is intent on a mission---a mission of self-destruction.

There will always come a time when a catalyst creates a crisis where people slow down and take stock of their life. This crisis should open opportunities to make changes in one's life. This crisis can be in the form of an addiction or emotional breakdown. Lives which are unwittingly caught in the web of addiction is causing one to be discontented, unhappy and unfulfilled.

Stress is one active stimulus which can lead to addiction. Work overload, high expectations, and the drive to succeed create a gullible channel for addiction. Juggling work and family can wear a person out and often can be too hard on the person. To cope, they resort to drugs and alcohol to cope with the pressures.

Party animals who lead "glorified" party lives are also gullible to addiction. Parties are rich grounds to doing illegal drugs and drinking too much.

The extreme pressure to look their best can fuel weight addiction. Both men and women share equal claims to this type of addiction. With no time to exercise, they often take another way to maintaining body weight with eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia.
