Making Things About “You”

When you are part of an addiction, you do not often realize that you are dedicating your life to sustaining your addiction. Every waking hour, every waking minute, that addiction is the single most important thing of your life. In order to start to recover and start to heal those old wounds, you need to learn to put “you” before your addiction. Finding something else to focus on is a great way to get started. Find a hobby that you love to do anytime and anywhere. A hobby will help you to keep your mind off your addiction. When your mind is off of your addiction you do not have to worry about slipping back into that addiction because you are not even thinking about it. Just remember that “you” are way more important than the addiction and you deserve to spend some quality time with yourself instead of with the addiction.
