Helping Loved Ones Get Help for Their Drug or Alcohol Addiction

Watching someone you love struggle with drug and alcohol addiction can be painful. Often times, the person will be in denial that there is a problem, becoming upset or angry with those loved ones who express concern for their well being.

For those who have never observed someone go through the vicious cycle of drug abuse, there are several things that you should look for:

-bloodshot eyes
-withdrawn personality
-depression
-increased instances of binge drinking
-injuries sustained during heavy drinking
-missing work because the person is hung over or high

While many of us may feel anxiety about having to approach our loved one(s) about their drug or alcohol abuse, we must remember that the worst thing that we could do is nothing.

Hey Mark Houston Recovery....

Hey Mark Houston Recovery.... Chaz here from wordpress.

To my own list of tell-tale indicators of addiction I would add unexplained absences, complete unreliability, and the emergence of some of the craziest excuses for why I was unavailable or un-reachable on the phone.

Or rather, my family would probably be the ones to add these to the list.

I am not an affiliated with Mark Houston recovery in anyway, but I would encourage anyone to check out their site if they are needing help with recovery. They appear to have a solid facility and program and worth checking out.

I am simply another addict/alcoholic working my own program of recovery with the help of others.

Ciao.
