Some people enjoy watching TV, while there are others who feel compelled to do so. The latter are TV addicts. TV addiction is similar to addictions like that of gambling, shopping, chatting, etc, as not only does it alter ones behavior pattern but also causes withdrawal symptoms.
The easiest way to find out whether a person is just fond of watching TV or is addicted to it, is to notice if they watch TV irrespective of what is being shown. Addicts feel a compulsion to watch TV, even when they don’t really want to. If the addiction goes unchecked it can have serious affects on a person’s personal and social life. Some it’s most common affects are becoming a social recluse, avoiding conversation and spending time with friends and family in order to watch TV, lack of motivation, lethargy etc.
Counseling and support from friends and family, however, can help a person overcome this addiction.
