Fast food addiction

In the fast-paced world that we are living in, it is no wonder that some of us may become addicted to fast food. And why not? Studies show that people can become addicted to the sugar and fat found in fast food, since these two have addictive properties.

Fast food addiction can affect people of all ages. In fact, even the Happy Meal mania that kids have is a sign of fast food addiction. What then are the other signs for you to know that you already have fast food addiction? The first sign is your constant craving for foods that are extra sweet and extra oily. Haven’t you noticed that these are the types of food commonly found in fast foods? For one, sugar is addictive because it triggers our brain’s pleasure center, making us feel “high.” If you combine this with fats, what you get is a combination that is almost as addictive as heroin.

Another sign is the weakness that you feel after a few days without eating fast food. This actually represents the start of your addiction. On the other hand, you feel as happy as your Happy Meal once you have eaten fast food. As mentioned before, eating fast food is actually comparable to takin heroin, since they both bring the same pleasure.

Finally, the frequency of eating fast food in a day is also indicative of fast food addiction. If you have all of these symptoms, then you are definitely a fast food addict.
