Christmas Eating All Year Round – The Cycle of Food Addiction

Food, we have to have it to survive. We need its needs its nutrients to keep our bodies going. For some those, food is seen as something to fear. Why? For fear of weight gain or perhaps as a crutch to lean on when depressed. For those suffering from bulimia, food is a constant source of torture. Those with bulimia see themselves as distorted when they look in the mirror. What we may see as a perfect size 6 or 8, they see as an obese version of themselves. Secretly, bulimics suffer from periods of binging on mass quantities of food. During this period, they can’t seem to get enough. Afterwards, the guilt sets in of what they just consumed and then the period of purging (throwing up) comes where they need to get rid of it all. Bulimia is a disease. For Bulimics, they eat their big Christmas feast, secretly in hiding all year long. With help, this vicious cycle can be cured. It’s not easy and it can be very difficult to correct this process but the key is to remember that there is help out there.
