Crack cocaine is made by heating cocaine in a solution of baking soda till the water evaporates. When cocaine is heated, it makes a cracking sound and this is why the substance is called crack. The drug is a scheduled drug and is illegal if sold in the U.S. Crack gives the addict an intensity of pleasure that is outside the normal range of human pleasure. It is the fastest acting form of cocaine. It is so addictive that the chances of relapse for recovering addicts are comparatively much greater. Withdrawal symptoms include anger, violent behavior and extreme exhaustion. Crack cocaine causes hallucinations, mental illnesses and organ failure. Addiction is treated by a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy and medication. It is important to break crack cocaine addiction before too late.
